Purpose

Aerodrome at our airport encompass a wide range of activities operations in terms of Safety and Compliance to relevant Civil Aviation regulations and recommended standard and practices. This department consists each divisions to provide the crucial services for the smooth operation of flights and ensuring passenger comfort and safety. Rescue Fire Services, Air Traffic Services, Communication Navigations & Surveillance, Electrical Division,Terminal Facilities Division, Aerodrome Operations, Mechanics, Air Conditioning Division.

Air Traffic Service
SAA Tower

Responsible for the control and movement of air traffic whereby the certified controllersare responsible for directing the safe movement of aircraft arriving anddeparting from airports an along major air routes.

Air Traffic Controllerstypically for the following: Issue of landing and takeoff instructions topilots. Monitor and direct the movement of aircrafts on the ground and in theair using radar, computers or visual references also the control of all groundtraffic at airports (Airside)  

Communication Navigations & Surveillances (CNS)

Its main objective is to adhere fully with all applicable international safetystandards and practices governing Aerodrome operations, Air Traffic Services, Rescue Fire Services, and Aviation Communications, Navigational and ElectricalServices (Operations Unit);

  1. The Navigational & Technical Division tends to operate under the New Zealand Rule Part 171 which the Technical team operates accordingly;
  2. Faleolo International Airport is served by a VOR, NDB, DME and a category 1 ILS System with a minimum decision altitude of 500 feet;
  3. It has install the new ADSB system and VSAT Equipment for better operational of the airport;
  4. Additional functions of this division includes dealing with the servicing of all Airports equipment from x-ray machine, metal detector, ETD machine, access control andall electronic equipment related to technical ;
